Mild Cerebral Palsy Is Caused By Damage To The Brain Before Birth Or In The Early Years Of Life

Mild cerebral palsy symptoms may be barely noticeable.  Doctors and parents may not notice any signs straightaway, even though mild cerebral palsy can be present from birth.  A child with spastic CP or another type of cerebal palsey may show signs of being slightly clumsy in one arm or leg and it may take a while for a doctor to diagnose cerebal palsy.

Mild cerebral palsy is caused by damage to the developing brain either before birth or in the very early stages of life.  There is no one single cause of CP, though several risk factors have been identified.  Infections during pregnancy such as rubella can pass from the mother to the growing fetus and result in damage.  Infections after birth such as jaundice or meningitis can also affect the development of the brain.

Mild cerebral palsy is linked to birth complications in a small percentage of cases.  It can be hard to prove a direct cause, but if there are indications that a healthcare professional made a mistake that could have led to cerebal palsy brain damage, parents can seek legal advice from a lawyer.  They maybe entitled to compensation and an attorney can file a lawsuit on their behalf.
