The United Cerebral Palsy Association Is The Largest Health Charity In The US
The United Cerebral Palsy association was founded in 1949 with the aim of improving quality of life for adults and children with disabilities. Today the United Cerebral Palsy association is the largest health charity in the US and together with its network of affiliates it provides nationwide services for people with athetoid, ataxic or spastic CP or any kind of disability.
The United Cerebral Palsy association is a major advocate for the rights of people with disabilities. When UCP was founded in the 1940s there was a general lack of understanding about spastic cerebal palsy among the public and within the medical community. There were very few services available to help children with disabilities lead a full life.
The United Cerebral Palsy association makes efficient use of its funds, with 85% of revenues going directly to programs. UCP is a source of info on cerebal palsy as well as offering nationwide services such as therapy, support and training to over 30,000 people a day. Its aim is to advance the independence and productivity of people with CP and other disabilities to ensure they enjoy a full life.
