The United Cerebral Palsy Foundation Improves The Quality Of Life Of People With Disabilities

The United Cerebral Palsy foundation began in 1949 with the aim of improving the quality of life of people with disabilities.  Today the United Cerebral Palsy foundation is the largest health charity in the US and provides services to over 30,000 adults and children each day.  UCP has a network of affiliate associations that offer support and information nationwide.

The United Cerebral Palsy foundation came about due to the lack of understanding in the 1940s about disabilities, both among the general public and the medical community.  In those days there were very few services to help a child with spastic CP enjoy a full life.  The UCP association today is a major advocate for the rights of adults and children with cerebal palsy or any type of disability.

The United Cerebral Palsy foundation makes good use of charitable donations.  85% of revenues go to funding programs.  The UCP association provides information as well as services offering therapy, training and support for children and adults with athetoid cerebral palsy or any type of disability, with the aim of improving quality of life and advancing their independence.
