The United Cerebral Palsy Association Aims To Improve Quality Of Life For People With Disabilities
The United Cerebral Palsy Association also known as UCP began in 1949 with the aim of improving the quality of life for children
with cerebal palsey. Today United Cerebral Palsy is the largest health charity in the US and together with its affiliate network
provides nationwide services and support for people with any disability. The aim of UCP is to advance the independence, productivity and
full citizenship of persons with disabilities.
United Cerebral Palsy was founded in the 1940s when there was a general lack of understanding about cerebral palsey among both the public and
the medical community. There were few services available to help persons with disabilities lead full lives. Now UCP affiliates
provide direct services to over 30,000 people with disabilities of all ages, through a range of programs offering therapy and training among
other things.
United Cerebral Palsy helps people with any kind of disability. In fact 65% of people served by their programs don't have cerebal
palsy. UCP uses its funds efficiently, with on average 85% or its revenues going directly to programs. This charity can provide a
large amount of information on cerebral palsy and other types of disability. UCP is an advocate for the equal rights of people with
disabilities in all areas of society.
